  • NATIONAL ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS MONTH
March 5, 2018

During the month of March, Amazing Love Health Services, LLC (ALHS) celebrates endometriosis awareness month together with the whole health community. It is estimated that 10 to 20 percent of American women of childbearing age (15-50 years) have endometriosis. This poorly understood condition is a leading cause of infertility and has profound effects on the quality of life and social or mental wellbeing for many women. The symptoms of endometriosis include painful periods, painful ovulation, pain during or after sexual intercourse, heavy bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, and fatigue. In addition, women with endometriosis are 76 percent more likely to have a miscarriage, go in preterm labor, and/or hemorrhage after childbirth, than women who do not suffer from the condition. While most women endure unpleasant, yet manageable, days every month, others suffer symptoms so intense that their lives are affected severely. The negative impact of endometriosis on mental health has been recently demonstrated by the research showing that the severe pelvic pain and recent diagnosis are associated with anxiety, depression, insomnia, panic attacks, and suicidal thoughts. Many women suffering from endometriosis were relieved that the health community acknowledged the link between the physical condition and their mental health. Alternative treatments to improve the well-being of patients with endometriosis involve the implementation of a mental health approach including cognitive behavioral therapy, coping skills strategies, psychotherapy, and other services offered here at ALHS.
